Seo Ye Ji recently discussed the mental strain she experienced due to the intense scrutiny from fans and online users. She acknowledged that this pressure is an inherent aspect of being in the public eye and must be managed. The actress shared her insights during the March 30 episode of TV CHOSUN's variety show Huh Young Man's Food Travel, which marked her return to television after an eight-year hiatus. However, her comeback has not been without challenges, as her name has frequently been associated with the Kim Soo Hyun controversy.
During the show, Seo Ye Ji addressed the challenges of fame. She noted that her performances in dramas such as Save Me (2017) and Lawless Lawyer (2018) have led to enduring misconceptions about her true personality, stemming from her ability to convincingly portray complex and darker roles. "I’ve often been confused with the characters I portray," she remarked. She also expressed that after more than a decade in the spotlight, she has grown accustomed to this reality. "I’ve learned to accept that the pressure is part of my public life, and I must endure how others view me," she explained.

Seo Ye Ji opened up about the emotional burden she faced due to the intense public scrutiny stemming from misunderstandings. She expressed, "At times, I feel overwhelmed by the stress caused by misconceptions that circulate even when I haven't said anything." Her honest reflections are particularly significant as they emerged during her involvement in controversies regarding her alleged connection as one of the "concubines" of Kim Soo Hyun, who was previously linked to the underage Kim Sae Ron.

Seo Ye Ji, who starred alongside Kim Soo Hyun in It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, was also reportedly targeted by her former agency, GOLDMEDALIST, with accusations of school bullying, seemingly to divert attention from potential scandals involving Kim Soo Hyun and his cousin, Lee Sa Rang. In response, Seo Ye Ji took to social media to clarify her lack of involvement with Kim Soo Hyun. Fans speculated that her comments about experiencing stress on a variety show might be related to the ongoing controversy. Nevertheless, fans were delighted to see the Eve actress make her first appearance on a show since 2017, when she guest-starred on JTBC’s Knowing Bros.
